Ralph David Egyud, Jr., 67, of Conneaut Lake joined his heavenly choir Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at UPMC Hamot, Erie.
He was born July 26, 1954 in Dayton, OH a son of Ralph David and Doris Jane Madore Egyud, Sr. Ralph met his future wife, Susan Christopher, on Long Island, NY where they both grew up. They married June 12, 1976 on the campus of Allegheny College and have enjoyed 46 years of marriage.
Ralph was a 1972 graduate of Hauppauge High School, Hauppauge, Long Island, NY and a 1976 graduate of Stony Brook University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance. He received his teaching certificate from Geneva College and began his 27 year teaching career at Conneaut School District first at Conneaut Lake High School as Choral Director and Drama Coach and continued over the years as chorus director, jazz band director, marching band director and continued at Conneaut Area Senior High.
Ralph was always active. He loved his music, playing guitar, bike riding, connecting with friends on Facebook and researching family genealogy. He also enjoyed the connections he made with other Houses of Prayer. He was the founder and director of The Christian Choir of the Lakes where they performed Handel’s Messiah at Christmastime. He was a former member of the Conneaut Lake Kiwanis Club and organized the annual Snowball Pageant. He was a member of the Conneaut Lake Zoning Hearing Board.
He was one of the founding members of The Church of the Firstborn, Int’l where he was ordained a pastor in 1993. When The Altar International House of Prayer started in 2000, he was one of the worship leaders and maintained a bi-weekly and then weekly worship session for over 10 years. In 2009, he and his team started praying for Houses of Prayer in Pennsylvania, which then led to finding and praying for Houses of Prayer all over the USA, which then led to summer trips visiting all these HOPs and starting a website listing them. In 2013, he and Sue became the directors of The Altar.
He will be deeply missed by his family, his former and current students, all his friends and his two dogs, Mallory and Wesley.
