Ralph E. Hansen

Ralph E. (Ernie) Hansen, 81, of 29286 Guys Mills Road, Guys Mills, died Friday July 23, 2004, at Homestead Hearth, Route #77, Centerville, after a period of declining health. He was born in Meadville, Aug. 8, 1922, a son of Harry & Christina DeFrece Hansen. He married Alelia Graham Dec. 2, 1945, and she preceded him in death April 28, 1988. He attended Saegertown High School, and had served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a welder, a welding instructor, and a safety instructor for Conrail for whom he had worked for over 35 years, retiring in 1987. In retirement he enjoyed working around his home, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and traveling. Survivors include 1 daughter, Barbara J. Kleean of Guys Mills, 4 grandchildren, Kimberly A. Parker & her husband Mark of Guys Mills, Tammy L. Bidwell & her husband Dennis of Saegertown, Robert L. Smith & his wife Alice of Geneva, & Thomas J. Kleean & his wife Miquelle of Meadville, 11 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Carrie DeCrapio of Meadville & 1 brother, Martin Hansen & his wife Betty of Meadville. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Eugene Hansen, 2 brothers, James & Carl Hansen, & 3 sisters, Mira & Dottie Hansen, & Rose Snyder. There are no calling hours. A private family service will be held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Monday July 26th with the Rev. Dave Brumagin, Assoc. pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Conneaut Lake, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
