Ralph F. Joyce

Ralph F. Joyce, 84, of Sandy Lake, formerly of Meadville, died Sunday, October 22, 1989, at Greenville Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Joyce was born in Syracuse, NY, March 2, 1905, a son of Charles and Nellie Greenleaf Joyce.  He married Elizabeth L. Mahle March 14, 1938.  She preceded him in death August 24, 1986.

He retired in 1966 from Talon, Inc. as chief of tool planning after 26 years of service with the company.  He was a 70-year member of Stone United Methodist Church; was a former superintendent and a former teacher of the church's Sunday School; and had served on the church's administrative board.  He was a 1927 graduate of Allegheny College and a 1931 graduate of George Washington University Law School.  He was a member of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity; Talon Management Assn.; and National Management Assn.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Rosemary) Fjelland of Slater, Iowa and Mrs. Guido (Kathleen) Piacesi, Manassas, VA; two sons, David C. Joyce of Woodbridge, VA and Hugh D. Joyce of Mt. Lebanon; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Jones and Blanche Thoburn.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
