Ralph H. Miller, 85, a resident of the Crawford County Care Center for the past eleven months and formerly of Meadville, died Sunday, May 17, 1998 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Pittsburgh, December 8, 1912, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Bauer Miller. He married Mildred Boyle September 15, 1934 and she preceded him in death May 1, 1981.
He retired in 1970 from construction work as a Pipe-fitter with Local #47 Plumbing and Steamfitters of NW PA. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge #408 and Scottish Rite Bodies of New Castle. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, flowers, reading and sitting on his porch in the summertime.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Richard (Pauline) Edwards of Virginia Beach, VA, Mrs. James (Marlyn) Choffel of Sharon, Mrs. Alan (Joan) Thompson of Hermitage, Mrs. Edwin (Carol) Grove of Guys Mills and Mrs. Ronald (Elaine) Barnes of Meadville; a son, Ralph H. Miller, Jr. of Oneonta, NY; a sister, Arvella Miller of Conneaut Lake; a brother, Howard E. Miller of Conneaut Lake; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Alan Miller; five sisters, Clara Hogue, Marie Schultz, Amelia Gross, Laverna Maloney and Edna Simmons and five brothers, John A., Albert E., Carl W., Elmer L. and Harry A. Miller.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
