Ralph H. Whiteman, 85, of Meadville, died Tuesday October 28, 1980, at City Hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks.
He was born in McKean County, March 10, 1895, a son of David and Mabel C. Brown Whiteman. He married Margaret C. Johnson December 24, 1919. He retired after 42 years with Oil Well Supply Co. of Bradford and Oil City where he worked as a machinist. He moved to Meadville inn 1960.
He was a member of Free Methodist Church, Meadville; an Army veteran of WWI; and a member of WWI Veterans, Barracks 1458, Meadville.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Peil of Syracuse, NY, Mrs. Elmer (Virginia) Busch of Meadville and Mrs. Frances Jones of Oil City; a foster daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Prevost of Oil City; three sisters, Miss Katherine Whiteman of Bradford, Mrs. T. J. (Margaret) Jones of Novato, CA and Mrs. Glenn (Grace) Porter of Bradford and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one grandson.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
