Ralph N. Batchlet, 83, of Meadville, and a winter resident of Tavares, FL, died Sunday, June 25, 1989, at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Batchlet was born in Cleveland, OH, October 3, 1905, a son of Edward and Leori Fields Batchlet. He married Hildred Chess. She preceded him in death. He subsequently married June Allison Niggel in 1963. She survives.
He retired in 1970 from Associated Agencies, Meadville. He had worked for New York Life Insurance Co., Cleveland, and came to Meadville in 1938 to work for Prudential Insurance Co. In 1946, he purchased the former A. Rickenbrode Insurance Agency. In 1951, he joined B.J. Smith to form Batchlet-Smith Agency which later was incorporated as Associated Agencies. During World War II, he was a civil servant, serving as an electrical foreman. He attended Allida Smith Memorial Wesleyan Church, Hayfield Township.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Louise Hanna of Winter Park, FL and Carolyn Byrne of Meadville; one step-son, Robert Niggel of Union City; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Services were held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
