Raymond B. Smith

January 29, 1897 — February 23, 1961

Raymond B. Smith, 64, of Black Ash, died Thursday, February 23, 1961, at his home after an illness of five years.

He was born in Wayne Township, January 29, 1897, a son of John and Addie McClelland Smith and married Edith Grove, March 14, 1918.  He was a farmer and cattle dealer and was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at McDaniels Corners, Wayne Township.

He also was a member of Black Ash Farmers' Alliance, Mt. Hope Grange, Titusville Eagles Lodge, Meadville Moose Lodge and was committeeman from the Titusville area for the Grange League Federation.

He is survived by his widow; a son, Richard E. of Black Ash; four foster children, Mrs. Katherine Rutherford of Conneaut, OH, Miss Betty Synder of Black Ash, and Robert Wolfe and Joseph Snyder of Meadville; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Desta) Grove of Black Ash and Mrs. Harry (Tressa) Chaffee of Devine, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Black Ash Cemetery.
