Raymond D. 'Butch' Johnston

Raymond D. “Butch” Johnston, 55, of 14714 Park Ave. Ext., Meadville died Thursday, May 23, 2003 at Beverly Health Care, Meadville, after an extended illness.

He was born in Meadville Aug. 12, 1947, a son of Howard R. & Mary Lou Lingo Johnston.  He married Barbara L. Stevens Nov. 28, 1970 and she survives.

He attended Meadville Public Schools and had been employed at National Tel-Tronics, Channellock, and Talon.

He was a volunteer fireman at W. Mead #1 Vol. Fire Dept., attended the Meadville R.E.A.D. program, enjoyed fishing, boating, antique cars, watching drag racing and truck & tractor pulls on television, and had been a CB radio operator.

Survivors in addition to his wife of 32 years include 1 son, Jason Johnston, Meadville, a granddaughter, Kylie Rose Dederick, his parents, Howard & Mary Lou Johnston, Leesburg, FL, and also aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. with the Rev. William L. Brown, visitation pastor of Stone United Methodist, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
