Raymond F. Schneider

Raymond F. Schneider, 85, of Conneaut Lake died unexpectedly Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Heritage Valley Medical Center, Sewickley.

Ray was born March 20, 1933, a son of Paul and Hilda E. Nimpfer Schneider in Greentree Borough, a suburb of Pittsburgh.  Ray married his beloved wife Rhoda (Pearl) Hancock in October 29, 1961 and she survives.

Ray served in the US Army 1953-1955 and was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico observing V2 and Corporal Missile testing.  Following his service he returned to Greentree where he and his brother Paul co-owned and operated a television repair facility.  He then worked for his brother, Harold, in his construction business.  He then moved to Conneaut Lake where he purchased the former Century Inn Restaurant on the west side of Conneaut Lake.  He started R.F. Schneider Pipe and Supply in the parking lot of the Century Inn and grew the business to its location on route 18 on the east side of Conneaut Lake with additional locations in Ormsbee, Greensburg and Latrobe.  He was a member of and grew up in the St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Parish in Greentree.  He was a member of Pine Lodge 498, the Coudersport Consistory and Zem Zem Shrine in Erie.

Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife Pearl of 56 years, include:  a daughter, Elaine E. McLaughlin of Aliquippa; a son, David A. Riley of Saegertown; six grandchildren, Melanie Casper, Raymond Casper, Noelle McLaughlin, Jason Riley, Casey Riley and Malissa Riley, seven great grandchildren, Eric, Ariana and Alexandria Cvetkovish, Madison Mast, Logan Riley, Carson and Carleigh Riley; one great great grandchild; a sister, Mary Lou Murray of Pittsburgh; a brother, Harold J. Schneider of Butler and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond F. Schneider, Jr.; a brother, Paul Schneider; a sister, Lois Jean Thompson; a sister-in-law, Rose Schneider and two brother’s-in-law, Jay Murray and Fred Thompson.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 2nd from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday, April 3rd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.  The Scripture Prayer service will be Tuesday at 6 p.m.  Pine Lodge 498, Linesville will conduct a Masonic service Monday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church 155 S. Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake with Fr. David Carter, celebrant.

Interment with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
