Raymond P. Melenson, 69, of Meadville and Fort Myers, FL, died Tuesday, October 25, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Helenson was born in Kansas City, MO, January 18, 1919, a son of Frank and Bertha Hinkle Melenson. He married Roberta Terrill. She preceded him in death July 29, 1964. He subsequently married Julie Gage, November 29, 1969. She survives.
He retired as a conductor from Conrail after 35 years of service.
He was a member of St. Agatha's Roman Catholic Church; El-Conrail Veterans' Assn.; United Transportation Union; the Eagles; and American Legion Post 336, North Fort Myers. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. S. R. (Paula) Gunsallus of Meadville and Ms. Linda Roberts of Newark, DE; three stepsons, Gerald Gage of Fort Myers, FL, Paul Gage of Fort Myers and Dale Gage of Cochranton; three sisters, Mrs. William (Delores) Shanks of Herman, CA, Mrs. A. D. (Retta) Anderson of Fremont, CA and Mrs. S. E. (Marion) Roemmich Chico, CA; a brother, Marvin Melenson of Fort Myers, FL; three grandchildren; eight step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
