Reed Trimble

Reed Trimble passed away peacefully November 21, 2022 at home of pancreatic cancer. Born August 6, 1940 in Linesville, the son of Helen and Charlie Trimble. He married Lee Soderquist June 19, 1965.

Attending Meadville schools, Reed graduated in 1958. He graduated Edinboro in 1963 and received a Master’s in Education from Pitt in 1970. He taught 37 years, first in Penn Hills but mostly at Saegertown High School. Reed loved teaching and was proud of his profession and of his students.

Reed was very generous, thoughtful, caring of others, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He and Lee shared many interests and enjoyed most of them together. They liked camping, skiing, kayaking, and biking. Reed especially loved traveling and together they saw much of the US and many foreign countries.

Reed also truly enjoyed raising his two sons, Erik and Ryan, and remained very close to them as adults. He treasured his two grandchildren, Ian and Maddie, and they loved him back. Wherever he found friends, they became a source of life-long enjoyment and value to him.

Reed found a spiritual home at 12 Apostles Lutheran Church in Saegertown, PA and was a vital part of the vibrant community there.

Reed is survived by his wife and sons, one sister Lorraine (Jon) Oliver and her family, as well as Ryan's wife Meredith. A memorial service is planned for summer 2023.

Donations in Reed's memory may be made to Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church.

A Celebration of Reed's Life will be Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church.
