Regina D. Waid

Regina D. Waid, 89, of Meadville and formerly of Guys Mills, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Juniper Village, Meadville following a period of declining health.

She was born April 10, 1923 at Pettis, a daughter of Oliver and Margaret Lippert Roche.  She married Norman Earl Waid August 27, 1946 and he preceded her in death January 30, 2001.

Regina was employed as a nurse’s aide at the former Meadville City Hospital and subsequently worked as a child care provider for area families.

A member of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting, gardening and reading.

Survivors include a daughter, Coralett Jones of Meadville; a son, Norman A. Waid and his wife Daphne of Meadville; three grandchildren, Diana, Kara and Adam Jones; four great-granddaughters, Kayla Withers, Haley Jones, Adelynn Jones and Kylie McGee; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Roche; a sister, Helen Roche; and a son-in-law, William Jones.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Daniel Prez of St. Hippolyte Church officiating.

Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pettis.
