Rev. Dr. Arthur B. R. Colley, 85, former pastor of the Methodist churches in Titusville and Hydetown, died at Meadville City Hospital Tuesday, August 30, 1983, after a sudden illness. Dr. Colley had been a resident of the United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital since January of 1983. Prior to that time, he had lived at Grove City.
He was born at Lancashire, England, January 31, 1898, a son of Henry and Selina Flye Colley. He married Lillie Kelly in June 30, 1919.
Dr. Colley was graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Allegheny College in 1930, serving as a student pastor in several area churches. He remained in Meadville in 1931, assisting Dr. Irwin E. Beiler with his Bible and English classes at Allegheny College. He was graduated in 1933 from Garrett Theological Seminary.
He was a member of Grove City Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.B. (Dorothy) White of Indianapolis; a son, Dr. Alfred L. Colley of Philadelphia; a brother, James Colley of Carlisle; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Morningside Cemetery.
