The Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Crawford, 87, of Meadville, pastor of First Presbyterian Church for 23 years, died Saturday, December 21, 1974, at United Methodist Nursing Home and Hospital where he had been a patient since October 1973.
He was born near Latrobe October 1, 1887, son of James K. and Sarah Jane Torrence Crawford. He married Mabel Montgomery July 3, 1917.
He retired as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in 1956. During his 23 years as pastor of the church, he increased the church membership, organized a junior church and erected a new church school.
The Rev. Dr. Crawford previously had served churches at Appleby Manor and Crooked Creek near Kittanning at West Alexander near Washington, PA; and at Jeanette, PA. He graduated from the former Carnegie Institute of Technology and Grove City College. He also graduated from Western Theological Seminary and was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1917.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Beswick of Bellevue and Mrs. Gerald (Marybelle) Enslen of Wilmington, DE; a son, the Rev. Hugh M. Crawford of West Mifflin and eleven grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Woodland Cemetery.
