Rev. Lawrence Robert Kepler

Rev. Lawrence Robert Kepler, 89, of Greenville, NC died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

He was born November 8, 1923 in Meadville a son of Clarence Richard and Lotta Avis Williams Kepler.  He married Ida May Thomas on July 21, 1945 and she survives.

He served with honor in the U.S Army during World War II and received: The Combat Infantry Badge, The Bronze Star, Jubilee of Liberty Medal from France for his participation in the Normandy Invasion, Parachute Wings with 2 bronze medals signifying his jumps in both Normandy and Holland, Presidential Citation for heroism for his involvement in D-Day, and the Purple Heart Medal for combat injury in Holland.  He received his highest honor on Tuesday September 17, 2013 when he entered his eternal reward.

In addition to his wife, Ida May, of 68 years, he is survived by a son, Lawrence Robert Kepler II and his wife Sue; a daughter, Alice Thomas Kepler Andrews and her husband Gene; four grandchildren, David Kepler, John Kepler, Jennifer Lou Andrews Dahmer and her husband Matt and Lisa Anne Andrews; and two great grandchildren, Macey and Owen Dahmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darwin Kepler.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 21, at 3 PM at Venango Cemetery, Venango, PA.
