Rev. Lynn A. Shindledecker

The Rev. Lynn A. Shindledecker, 74, of Meadville, died Thursday, October 1, 1987, at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born October 23, 1912, at Sinclairville, Chautauqua County, New York, a son of Kerry and Pearl Downs Shindledecker.  He married Betty Jane Russell on December 30, 1936.  She died December 18, 1982.

The Rev. Mr. Shindledecker served pastorates of Falconers, NY and in McKean, Pleasantville, Harrisville, DuBois, New Castle, Connellsville and Titusville.  He retired as chaplain of Wesbury United Methodist Community in 1985.

He was an ordained clergyman in the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He received  a bachelor of arts degree from Allegheny College in 1934 and a bachelor of divinity degree from Garrett Theological Seminary in 1938.  He did graduate studies at Cornell University and the University of Pittsburgh.  He was a member of Garfield Masonic Lodge, DuBois.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane C. Springer of Edinboro; one son, Thomas L. Shindledecker of Findlay, OH; three sisters, I. Louise Duncan of Fairview, Maxine Brown and Miriam Pulling, both of Edinboro; one brother, The Rev. Ormel G. Shindledecker and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Andrus and two brothers, Donald and Leroy Shindledecker.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
