Rev. Raymond J. Hurst

December 12, 1895 — March 10, 1979

The Rev. Raymond J. Hurst, 83, died of natural causes Saturday, March 10, 1979, at the United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital where he resided for several years.

He was born in Millvale December 12, 1895, a son of Albert T. and Lillie Johnson Hurst.  He married Maude Perham October 23, 1924.  She died in 1965.

The Rev. Hurst was a minister for 50 years, serving in churches at Punxsutawney and Kane, and numerous churches in New York state.  He was former pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, Custer City, McKean County, where he served three years.

He was a member of Kane Masonic Lodge and Coudersport Scottish Rite Bodies.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Ruth Ann) Broyles of Gowanda, NY; one son, The Rev. Reed J. Hurst of Grove City; two sisters, Mrs. Phillip (Lois) S. Gittings of Gibsonia and Mrs. William (Isabelle) Reynolds of Carlisle; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and a son, David P. Hurst.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cherry Creek Cemetery.
