Rev. Richard B. Snyder, 76, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 4, 1997 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
He was born October 18, 1920 in Big Run, a son of the late Percy E. and Cora E. Bailey Snyder. He married Lela May Pifer December 4, 1938. She survives.
Rev. Synder was a graduate of Clarion University and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in the Western PA Conference of the United Methodist Church retiring in 1985. He special interests were personal evangelism and theology.
He was a veteran of WWII in the US Navy and was a coxswain at the time of his discharge in 1945.
Survivors in addition to his wife include; two sons, Malcolm R. Snyder of Johnstown and Robert P. Snyder of Brandon, FL; three daughters, L. Kaye Richards of Melbourne, FL, Gail E. Alexander of Columbus OH and Betty Lee Hollabaugh of Townville; two sisters, Lillian Osborne of Butte, MT and Leah Lellock of Punxsutawney; one brother, James D. Martz of Butte, MT; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Henderson Township, Jefferson County, PA.
