Rev. Richard C. Haugh

Rev. Richard C. Haugh, 82, of Livermore Road, Meadville died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Oil City December 4, 1925 a son of Leroy and Ethel Mae Jones Haugh.  He married Dorothy Jean Sullivan June 29, 1945 and she survives.

He was a 1944 graduate of Meadville High School and was a veteran of World War II with the Army Air Force.  Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for Westinghouse Corp. from 1945-1958.  He then worked for Goodyear Aerospace from 1958-1965 and then Sunbeam Equipment Corp. from 1965-1982.

In 1976, after dedicating his life to the Lord, he changed his vocation to teaching and spreading the work of Jesus Christ.  He attended Edinboro University and in 1985 graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC.  From 1980-1985 he was pastor of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in New Lebanon, PA, from 1985-1990 he was pastor of the Sugar Grove/Chandlers Valley United Methodist Charge and from 2000-2008 he was pastor of St. Marks United Church of Christ in Cochranton.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and helped his father build a hunting camp in 1949 that he continued to enjoy throughout his life.  He enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking and building three homes for his family over the years.  He was also a member of the Ramblin’ Squares square dance camping club.

The most important times of his life were spent enjoying his family, especially his grandchildren.  He had the honor of officiating at both of their weddings.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Dorothy of 63 years, include: a son, Charles P. Haugh and his wife Judi of Cambridge Springs; a daughter, Donna J. Haugh of Meadville; a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Wintemute and her husband William of Corry; a grandson, Chad Alan Haugh and his wife Megan of Edinboro; a great grandson, Jacob Thomas Haugh and his dog, Cody.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Haugh.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Russell Hines, Pastor of St. Marks United Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
