Rex L. Poly, 72, prominent in the county's farm circles, died Friday at his home at Mt. Hope after a long illness.
The Randolph Township dairy farmer had been a justice of the peace for 24 years; was a charter member of the Mt. Hope Grange when it was organized 41 years ago and had remained active until recent months; was a Seventh Degree Club member of the National Grange, and a member of the Dairymen's Co-Operative Sales Assn.
Mr. Poly, in earlier years, had been a school teacher for 11 years. He was a member of St. Hippolyte's R.C. Church at Frenchtown and of the FO Eagles Lodge on Meadville.
His wife, the former Mary Schenberg, died 22 years ago.
He is survived by six children, Mrs. Ila Smith, Mrs. Marion Matthews, William F. and Joseph R., all of Mt. Hope, Mrs. Luella Holcomb of Little Cooley and Capt. Ernest W. Poly, recently returned from Korea and new stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ.
A brother, Isadore Poly of Mt. Hope, fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
