Richard A. Bowden

Richard A. (Dick) Bowden, 74, of Conneaut Lake and formerly of Derby, CT, died at his residence Saturday, October 20, 2007. He was born in Derby, December 11, 1932, a son of William and Bertha Chapis Bowden. He served with the US Navy on the USS Haas, a destroyer escort during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a toolmaker and machine tool sales engineer, having worked for Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky Aircraft and Waterbury Farrell Corp., all of CT. Dick was active throughout his life with the Roman Catholic Church. He served as an eucharistic minister, lector and Catechism teacher. Most recently, he was a member of Our Lady of the Americas Church, Conneaut Lake. He was a member of the Franciscan Secular Order. He was a fine cabinet and furniture maker, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and outdoor activities. Three sons, Richard D. Bowden (Tracy) of Meadville, John Bowden (Sylvia) of Springfield, VT and Scott Bowden of Winsted, CT; a daughter, Gloria Hennemuth (Greg) of Orleans, VT; a sister, Pat Manion (Ed) of Shelton, CT and six grandchildren. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby, CT. Services Past Services
