Richard A. Goodwill

Richard A. Goodwill, 84, of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born June 13, 1927 in Franklin, a son of Paul C. and Helena Sutherland Goodwill.

Richard was a 1945 graduate of Meadville High School and was a Veteran of World War II, Seaman First Class, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations.  He was a 1951 graduate of Tri-State University, Angola, IN where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.

Richard was a founding partner of Goodea Construction Company and was a past president of the Meadville Construction Council.  He was a life-member of the Taylor Hose Company and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville and a member of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 3.  He was a former member of the Meadville County Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Survivors include his loving companion of 33 years, Sally L. Leberman of Conneaut Lake; two daughters, Carol Ann Zimmerman and her husband Steve of Saegertown and Kathy Karl of Ravenna, OH; two sons, Richard A. Goodwill of Meadville and Robert Goodwill and his wife Lisa of Ft. Wayne, IN; seven grandchildren, Jacob Zimmerman and his wife Melissa, Dr. Nathan Zimmerman, Jessica Karl, Natalie Karl, Tim Goodwill, Heather Sloat and her husband Michael, and Bobby Goodwill; ten great-grandchildren with one more expected; a sister, Patricia Swartz of Meadville; two brothers, Duane A. Goodwill and his wife Linda of Hermitage and William P. Goodwill of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Reynolds and Karen Piazza.

A celebration of life service will be held at a date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main St. or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., both of Meadville, PA 16335.
