Richard E. (Dick) Fish, 76, of Meadville passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 08, 2012.
He was born in Erie, June 2, 1936 a son of Howard B. and Charlotte Myers Fish. He married Alberta DeVee Ohle August 22, 1988 and had previously been married to Carol Spence Fish.
He retired as a project engineer with Talon Inc. after 22 years of service. He then was owner and operator of Pioneer Tool & Die from 1984-2005 and also worked for Chipsco for 3 years.
He was a 1954 graduate of Union City High School and served in the US Army in France from 1955-1957. He was a member of the Taylor Hose Co., American Legion Post 381 Cambridge Springs and VFW Post #2006 and a former board member of the Meadville YMCA. He was interested in NASCAR before NASCAR was cool and was a member of Cale Yarborough’s pit crew at Darlington Raceway. He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and traveling, both in the US and overseas. Among other accomplishments, he and his good friend Jack Gunn competed in numerous long distance canoe races. He also never lost his love of learning and also for giving instruction, becoming a good cook and enjoying an occasional good wine or cold beer.
Survivors, in addition to his wife DeVee of 24 years, include: a daughter, Kathleen Smith of York, PA; a step-daughter, Kristine Kish and her husband Larry of Garnet Valley, PA; a step-son, Kevin J. Boozel and his wife Cathy of Fairview, PA; four grandchildren, Adrianne Credo, Richard Smith, Jeffrey Smith and Chase Moore; a sister, Carol Londrigan and her husband Tom of Springfield, IL; a step-sister, Joan Miller of Seattle, WA and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Marcia Rice and his step-mother, Alphoretta Fish.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Marshall Lillie, Chaplain of Hospice of Crawford County, officiating.
Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
