Richard E. Mattocks

Richard E. Mattocks, 71, of Guys Mills died at home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, August 4, 2015.

He was born in Meadville October 14, 1943 a son of Virgil Earl and Inez Mae Waid Mattocks.  He married Patricia Ann Tkach July 27, 1962 and she survives.

He was a 1961 graduate of Randolph/East Mead High School and served in the US Army.  He worked for Channellock, then as a salesman for Ralston Purina Co. and in 1969 purchased the Meadville Farm and Garden with his four brothers.  They grew the business to the Albion Mill and 5M Feeds in Titusville, Warren and Waterford.  Over the years his brothers left the business and it is now carried on by his family.  He also owned D & R Investments.

He was a member of Living Waters Church, the Full Gospel Men’s Ministries and was a former Sunday School Teacher.  He loved the Lord and his faith was very important to him.  He enjoyed his work and loved spending time with his family.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.  He enjoyed bowling, basketball and baseball and at one time coached youth baseball.  He was very witty and had a terrific sense of humor.  He also was always willing to help those in time of need.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Patricia of 53 years, include: six children, Debra Alexander and her husband David of Conneaut Lake, Stephanie Alexander  and her husband Douglas of Guys Mills, Richard (Jake) Mattocks Jr. and his wife Stacey of Union City, Michael Mattocks and his wife Kelly of Guys Mills, Eric Mattocks and his wife Fawn of Conneaut Lake and Laura Beebe and her husband Paul of Guys Mills; fifteen grandchildren, Nicole, David, Megan, Jessica, Zachary, Jacob, Austin, Marissa, Summer, Noah, Angelina, Isabelle, Sophie, Ella and Isaac; two great grandchildren, Apple and Jaxsen; four brothers, David Mattocks and his wife Maggie of Elizabeth Town, PA, William Mattocks and his wife Carol of Guys Mills, Larry Mattocks and his wife Linda of Meadville and Ronald Mattocks and his wife Bonnie of Guys Mills; a sister, Shirley Waterhouse Waldrop and her husband Tom of Houston, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Shirley Mattocks and a brother-in-law, Cliff Waterhouse.

Calling hours will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Ray Martinez and Corey Norman, of Living Waters Church, officiating.

Interment with military honors will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Living Waters Church (Building Fund), 12891 State Hwy. 98, Meadville, PA 16335.
