Richard F. Egger, 80, of Jackson Center, passed away surrounded by family on December 20, 2024. Richard was born to Howard and Ella May Egger on July 27, 1944, in Pittsburgh.

Dick's fond childhood memories were created by his maternal grandparents, Beny and Rosie, who took him on many fishing trips along Sandy Creek. 

A heavy equipment operator, he retired from PennDOT, Mercer; his entire career with the same employer. 

A Jackson Center Presbyterian Church member, he had served as greeter and usher. When his health permitted, he helped Vincent United Methodist Church folks tend their community garden. 

He was a member of the Greenville Eureka Lodge No. 290 Free and Accepted Masons; Mound Royal Arch Chapter 212, Greenville; Mt. Calvary Commandery #67 Knights Templar; Sharon Council #48 Royal and Select Master Masons, Greenville; and a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rites Consistory, New Castle. 

He had been a volunteer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Shenango River Lake; and a member of the Mercer County Historical Society. He was a lifetime member of the Jackson Field and Stream Club; and a Ludlow, Pa. Sportsman Club member. As a former Jackson Center Volunteer Fire Company member, he held positions of trustee, president and line officer as well as Mercer County Fire Policeman during his tenure there. 

When his sons were youngsters, he was Jackson Center Cub Scout Pack#76 Cubmaster. Having enjoyed the spectator sports of NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) sanctioned drag racing events and NASCAR racing, he attended races at large tracks in several states. 

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Strausser, and their sons, Rich and Rob. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, PA 16153. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 1-3pm on Monday, December 23, 2024 with a funeral service to follow at 3pm. 

Memorial Contributions in Dick Egger's name may be given to Shriners Children's Hospital-Erie, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA,16505.
