Richard Emory Feldmiller, Sr., 85, of Conneaut Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 6, 1933 in Meadville, a son of John Emory and Velma Irene Olinger Feldmiller. He married Eleanor Peterson August 15, 1953 and she preceded him in death January 8, 1996.
Dick was a 1951 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed by the Bessemer Railroad, Conneaut Lake Sand and Gravel, and the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1995 following 24 years of service.
Dick was a 65-year member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake where he was a former Elder and Trustee. He was a founding member of the Conneaut Lake High School Alumni Association, member of the Sadsbury Township Planning Commission, Conneaut Lake V.F.D. Station 3, Conneaut Lake American Legion, Crawford County baseball and basketball officials organization and a Young Association member that assisted in the purchase and development of the Sadsbury Township Recreation Complex. Dick was the first president of the Conneaut Lake Little League Association and played in numerous golf leagues. He enjoyed hunting but especially enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
Survivors include five children, Cheryl Miller (Jim) of Conneaut Lake, Gwendolyn Devoge (Michael) of Conneaut Lake, Jacquelyn Laird (Lindsey) of Conneaut Lake, Richard Feldmiller, Jr. (Carrie) of Sharon and Rex Feldmiller (Lisa) of Dillsburg; ten grandchildren, Kyle Kline, Caitlin Scott, Zachary Devoge, Brittany Mengel (Tim), Jamie Borsa (Robert), Travis Laird (Jana), Ethan Feldmiller, Ella Feldmiller, Adrianne Feldmiller and Jessica Feldmiller; eight great-grandchildren, Noah Scott, Kwarteng Kline, Levi Mengel, Denver Mengel, Weston Borsa, Teague Borsa, Vivian Laird and Lydia Laird; a brother, Ronald Feldmiller (Ada) of Atlantic; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Feldmiller of Albion and Elaine Peterson of Hartstown; three brothers-in-law, Stanley Peterson of Meadville, Glenn Peterson (Gail) of Meadville and Charles Livingston of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Feldmiller.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 2nd from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, 145 S. Fifth St., Conneaut Lake where a memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Heagy officiating.
Interment will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 2006.
