Richard J. (Dick) Emig, 80, of Meadville, died Monday, December 1, 2014 following a sudden illness.
He was born May 7, 1934 in Meadville, a son of Leonard H. and Elizabeth A. Woodard Emig. He married Caroleen J. Bradley December 27, 1955 and she survives.
Dick was a 1952 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1953 to 1957, stationed in Germany. He worked as a tool and die maker at Talon for over 30 years.
Dick enjoyed woodworking, hunting, maintaining his property, doing anything outdoors, and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Caroleen of almost 59 years, include a son, Daniel Emig and his wife Lynn of Pottstown; a daughter, Cathi Jamison and her husband Elwyn of Mayville, MI; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Alison, Brandon, Patrick, Jessica, Jared, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren; and good friends, Terry and Linda Haylett of Meadville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jim Emig and a sister, Marjorie Lobins.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
