Richard J. Harmon, 88, of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born November 27, 1925 in Greensburg, IN, a son of Michael and Emma Jacobs Harmon. He married Jane Dopler June 21, 1952 and she survives.
Richard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was the owner and operator of Precise Industries, Inc. of Irwin for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He previously worked for Pan American Corporation in Cape Canaveral, FL as a purchasing agent.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, and was a former member of the Samaritans of Conneaut Lake.
Richard also was a member of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department Station 3 and Conneaut Lake Park Volunteer Fire Department Station 5. He was an avid computer chess player, formerly played the organ, and enjoyed bowling and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Jane of over 61 years, include two sons, David R. Harmon and his wife Bridget of Erie and Michael Dickson Harmon of Conneaut Lake; five grandchildren, Eli, Jake, Abby, Annie, and Emma Harmon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Bernie, Vic, Charlie, Bill, and Tom Harmon and two sisters, Mary Barlow and Ellen Harmon.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake with a scripture prayer service at 8:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth St., Conneaut Lake with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery.
