Richard Allen (Rick) Kiesel

June 6, 1944 — September 28, 2019

Richard Allen (Rick) Kiesel, 75, formerly of Manassas, VA and Meadville, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Rolling Fields.

He was born June 6, 1944 in Meadville, a son of Leslie L. Kiesel and Edythe Bartells Anderson.  He had been married to Eileen Thompson.

Rick was a 1962 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, a 1966 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, and a 1979 graduate of the University of Santa Clara with a Master’s of Science degree in computer science.  He worked as an engineer for General Electric for 13 years and subsequently for Aerospace Corporation in Manassas, VA for 34 years, retiring in 2012.

Rick was a former member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.  He enjoyed dancing, many varieties of music, walking, and hiking.  He loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Brian D. Kiesel and Terrence M. Kiesel (Amaryllia), all of San Jose, CA; two sisters, Elizabeth Geist (James) of Xenia, OH and Jeannette Peterson of Meadville; a half-brother, Robert Kiesel of Guys Mills; five nieces and nephews, Alan Geist (Lynn), Todd Geist (Shawna), Jayme Geist Johnston (David), Lisa Fletcher Clark (Tom), and Erin Peterson Faber (Kris); seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Justin, Darcie, Brendan, Alissa, William, Ryan, and Guy; and one great-great-niece, Lillienne.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Barbara Kiesel; a brother, Stanley Kiesel; a sister, Janet Kiesel; a step-brother, Edward Ashbaugh; and a niece, Tracy Fletcher Albritton.

Calling hours will be Friday, October 4th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A celebration of life funeral service will be Saturday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
