Richard L. Stallard, 82, a current resident of the Crawford County Care Center, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 22, 2014.
He was born July 13, 1932 in Meadville, a son of Dwight E. and Helen A. Ditch Stallard. He married Marilyn Bogardus October 21, 1950 and she survives.
Dick was a 1950 graduate of Randolph High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving stateside during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He worked at Associates Loan Company, Penn Towel Supply, and retired from Aflac following 25 years of service as an insurance agent and district manager.
Dick was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years where he served in various leadership roles. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and was a former Cub Scout leader. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, playing baseball in his younger years, and also coaching Little League and Babe Ruth League Baseball. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Marilyn of over 63 years, include two daughters, Christine Stallard and her husband Gary Pelter of Pistol River, OR and Patricia Polley and her husband Kevin of Jamestown; two sons, David Stallard and his wife Rhonda of Lafayette, IN and Douglas Stallard and his wife Laura of Linesville; a sister, Sandra Stevenson and her husband Edward of Meadville; a brother, Dwight J. Stallard and his wife Lucille of Conneaut Lake; ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Benjamin, Adam, Andrew, Megan, Molly, Brian, Kelli, Missy, and Matthew; ten great-grandchildren, Mara, Piper, Victoria, Landon, Zachary, Ashlyn, Coulton, Cameron, Zoe, and Elleeana; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Alan Stallard and four brothers, Gordon, Ewing, Emory, and Delmar Stallard.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Meadville Alliance Church, 660 N. Main St., Meadville. The funeral service will follow Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Jeffrey Conley, Pastor, officiating and military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
