Richard Paul Mesarch, 84, of 13541 Walker Street, Meadville died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Wesbury United Methodist Community where he had been a resident since April 2005.
He was born in Duquesne, PA May 10, 1923 a son of Michael and Susan Frichoski Mesarch. He married Bertha Crayton December 3, 1960 and she survives.
He retired in 1988 from Talon after 34 years of service. In his retirement, he worked for a couple of years at D.I.C. Tool.
He was a 1941 graduate of Meadville High School and was a veteran of World War II with the US Army Air Corps serving as a B-17 radio operator based in England. He was active with Boy Scout Troop 244 and was an Order of the Arrow recipient. When his children were young he was active with the 4-H program. He was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church in Saegertown and a former member of its church Council. He also enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Pymatuning Yacht Club.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Bertha of 46 years, include: a daughter, Kimberlee R. DeJulio and her husband Glenn of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a son, Mark A. Mesarch of Lincoln, NE; a brother, Alvin Mesarch of Frenchtown; three grandchildren, Michael DeJulio, Cameron DeJulio and Gianna DeJulio; two nephews, Walter Mesarch and his wife Norma of Youngstown, OH and Nick DeRosa and his wife Theresa of Long Island, NY and other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William D. Mesarch, Eli Mesarch and Victor Mesarch and four sisters, Margaret, Ruth, Susan and Ann.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 110 West 10th Street, Suite 212, Erie, PA 16501 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
