Richard S. Clayton, 89 of Meadville, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the Marquette Hospice House.
He was born in Meadville on April 4, 1933, a son of John Clayton and Ada Smith Clayton Dingle. He married Anna Yarosh and she proceeded him in death February 4, 2006.
Richard was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1950-1954 as a member of the 24th Infantry Division and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was an electrician with IBEW Local #1319 in Wilkes Barre. He previously worked as a lineman with the railroad, for Northwest REC, Penelec, and a power company in Arizona. In retirement, he worked part time for The Boot Box.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing as well as collecting military memorabilia.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Ann Mahoney (Mark) of Meadville and Carol Ann Reaugh (Jeff); a step-brother, Donald Dingle (Jan) of Meadville; six grandchildren, Jared (Danielle), Marcus (Cira), and Rory (Jaclyn) Mahoney, Vanessa Catalano, and Megan and Jason Reaugh; nine great-grandchildren, and his godson, Robert Clark.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, a grandson, Sean Catalano; a brother, Donald Clayton and his step-father, Paul Dingle.
Services are private with military honors.
