Richard W. Colgrove, 80, of Conneaut Lake, died at home, Saturday, November 28, 2009.
He was born in Buffalo, NY February 7, 1929 a son of William and Alice Dodd Colgrove. He married Nancy Yeager April 12, 1960 and she survives.
He retired from Spaulding Inc. in Meadville in 1984 after 24 years of service. Previously, he had worked at White Ford in Oil City, owned his own used car dealership in Franklin and for a short time worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He was a graduate of St. Patrick Catholic High School in Franklin. He was a Life Member of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Dept., a member of Linesville VFW Post #7842 and a member of Charles Stafford American Legion Post #111. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, his friends and a good beer. In his younger years, he enjoyed carpentry and water skiing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Nancy of 49 years, include: a son, Scott Andrew Colgrove and his wife Debbie of Jacksonville, FL and two grandchildren, Sean Colgrove and Meaghan Colgrove.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Robert Colgrove and William Colgrove.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Franklin Cemetery, 203 State Route 427, Franklin, PA, 16323 with the Rev. David Foote, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Nancy Colgrove, c/o Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc. 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
