Richard Wesley Cousins, 62, of Meadville, died at Spencer Hospital Tuesday, July 13, 1982, after an illness of one year.
He was born in Edenburg, Lawrence County, September 7, 1919, a son of Joseph A. and Jessie Beck Cousins. He married Alice Ella Fiscus in 1943.
Mr. Cousins served as manager of engineering for the past seven years at the GTI Plant, Hadley. He recently had been named vice president in charge of special projects at GTI's San Diego plant. Prior to working for GTI, he worked at Westinghouse in Meadville, Warner Aluminum in Greenville, Arico Speer of Dubois and Kaiser Electric of Bristol.
A 1937 graduate of Sharon High School, he received an engineering degree from Tri-State University, Angola, IN. He was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force in World War II and was based in England. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary of Reynoldsville; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Mimi) Thompson of Conneautville and Mrs. David (Mary Lee) Wilson of DuBois; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Neva) Chismar of Blooming Valley, Mrs. Oscar (Helen) Bishop of Hermitage and Mrs. Laurence (Jessie) Newberry of Lake City; three brothers, Dr. James Cousins of Mt. Hope, the Rev. William Cousins of Cleveland and Joseph Cousins of Mesa, AZ; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon.
