Robert A. Bartholomew, 76, of Meadville, died at City Hospital Sunday, August 13, 1967, after a long illness.
He was born in Brookfield, OH, on August 19, 1890, a son of Samuel and Callie Tribby Bartholomew.
He married the former Lela Price in 1911. He subsequently married the former Vera Thompson on September 9, 1943.
Mr. Bartholomew worked as a construction worker in Ohio. Later he operated a service station on North Street in Meadville and was self-employed as a painter and paperhanger for a number of years. He also worked hauling gravel at Guys Mills and was an employee of the former Fleet Wing gasoline station on Park Avenure until failing health forced his retirement in 1956.
Formerly active in Men's Chorus of French Creek chapter, SPEBSQSA, he was a member of First Baptist Church and Happy Mixers Club.
Survivors, in addition to his widow, include three daughters, Mrs. Viola Guinaugh of Levittsburg, OH, Mrs. Eugene (Ione) Raderr of Warren, OH, and Mrs. Raymond (Bonita) Godsave of Meadville; three sons, Robert, Jr. of Levittsburg, Samuel of Warren, OH and Orville at home; three sisters, Mrs. Elda Pratt of Granda Hills, CA, Mrs. Thelma Hills of Santee, CA and Mrs. Edgar (Ruth) Ortman of Kent, OH; two brothers, Charles of Saegertown and Jay of Meadville; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death were two daughters, a brother and two sisters.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
