Robert A. Krider

December 15, 1913 — March 10, 1982

Robert A. Krider, 68, of Erie, died at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Wednesday, March 10, 1982, following an extended illness.

He was born at Meadville December 15, 1913, a son of John A. and Mae Consider Krider.  He married Margaret Young May 12, 1945.

Mr. Krider retired in 1976 from the architectural firm of Meyers, Krider, Werle and Ellenberger.

He attended Allegheny College and graduated from Cornell University in 1937 with a degree in architecture. A member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Cornell, he also was a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity.  He also was a member of American Institute of Architecture and was former chairman of Erie Redevelopment Authority, having been honored as Distinguished Service Citizen for public service.  The City of Erie presented him with an award for recognition for the redevelopment of downtown Erie.

A charter member of Presque Isle Gun Collectors, Mr. Krider also was a member of Erie and Fairview Historical Societies and was well known in Erie County as an historical architect researching historical homes in the county.

He was a retired major in the US Marine Corps and served with the 413th Air Squadron in the South Pacific in World War II.

Survivors include his wife and three daughters, Karen L. Krider of Cumberland Center, ME, Ann Noel Krider of Lake Placid, NY and Darcy E. Krider of Cincinnatti, OH.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
