Robert A. Macarthur

June 21, 1917 — March 3, 1993

Robert A. MacArthur, 75, of Meadville, an Avtex retiree, died Wednesday, March 3, 1993, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.

He was born in Oil City, June 21, 1917, a son of John F. and Flora Swisher MacArthur.  He married Colleen Bell, November 23, 1944.  She survives.

He retired in 1981 as a staff engineer at Avtex in Meadville following 23 years of service.  He was previously employed by Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, then in Meadville before joining FMC in Meadville, later known as Avtex.  He was a 42-year member of First Presbyterian Church, and was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher.  He graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN, with a degree in mechanical engineering.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Scottish Rite Bodies of New Castle, Zem Zem Shrine Temple of Erie, and the Crawford Shrine Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Kathleen MacArthur.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, David MacArthur; a sister, Elizabeth Roess and a brother, John MacArthur.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Rockland Cemetery, Venango County.
