Robert A. Mcgowan, Jr.

Robert A. McGowan, Jr., 70 of Guys Mills died at home surrounded by his family, Friday, July 23, 2021.

He was born in Meadville July 18, 1951 a son of Robert A. and Evelyn Girard McGowan. He married Carol Owens September 11, 1970 and she survives.

He was a 1969 graduate of Randolph East Mead High School and first worked at Channellock for about 10 years, then PROper Cutter for 18 years, and then Greiner Extrusion of Meadville. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. The McGowans are a very musical family and he was an avid guitar player, playing bass in the Sierra band for over 30 years. He was also one of the biggest jokesters around and

always enjoyed a good laugh. He also found simple joy in cutting wood that he would use to heat their1 home for over 30 years. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, and making them happy.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Carol, of 50 years, include: two daughters, Connie Williams (Robert) and Kristin Vanderella (Nate) both of Guys Mills; three grandchildren, Brennan, Caiden and Chloe; two sisters, Mary Ann Hartman (Joe) of Hydetown and Kim Templin (Marc) of Meadville; three brothers, Dan McGowan (Bev) of Meadville, Tom McGowan (Leslie) of Cochranton and Kevin McGowan of Titusville, one sister-law, Cindy McGowan, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie; a son, Brian, and two brothers, Marty and Jerry McGowan.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, officiating. Military honors will be provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
