Robert F. Bell, 68, housing contractor, formerly of Cochranton, died following a brief illness late Tuesday afternoon [date of death not on record] at a hospital near his home at Hyattsville, MD.

He built several houses in Meadville and other Crawford County points before he moved away from his farm at the outskirts of Cochranton in 1931.  Born in Fairfield Township, the son of William C. and Cordelia Nelson Bell, he spent his early life there and then spent several years in western states before returning to Cochranton.  At Cochranton he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.  At Hyattsville he belonged to a Methodist church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Uda Feldmiller Bell; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Bell and Mrs. Robert Moore, both of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Auxier of Pikeville, KY; Mrs. Alfred Johnston of Meadville and Mrs. Addison Dunn of Van, PA.  A son, William, lieutenant with the 106th Infantry, who was captured in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe five years ago, died in January, 1946, a few months after he was discharged from service.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
