Robert “Bob” Allen Finnegan, 55 of Sandy Lake, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born on May 10, 1963 in Grove City to the late Lawrence James and Patricia Ann McCue Finnegan. Bob was a 1981 graduate of Grove City High School and then went on to serve our Country in the United States Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist. He served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm and received several awards during his service. Bob was a self-employed cabinet maker and loved wood working. He was currently in the process of making new church pews for St. Columbkille Church in Stoneboro. He loved the outdoors and was an avid archery hunter. He enjoyed making knives and restoring old telephones. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle on beautiful days and watching Star Trek with his son. Bob was a member of St. Columbkille Church in Stoneboro and St. Patrick Church in Franklin. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Bonay Finnegan, his son Robert A. Finnegan, Jr, siblings Lawrence J. “Larry” Finnegan, Jr, of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Mary T. Stephens and husband Dennis E. of Vienna, VA, Thomas R. Finnegan and wife Karen of Mercer, Rita A. Romig and husband Jeffrey of Rochester, NY, and Edward C. Finnegan and wife Cheryl of Cary, IL, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Maddie. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth J. Finnegan and sister-in-law Cynthia M. Russo. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 4 pm until 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 31. A Vigil Service will take place at the funeral home at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 31. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, 70 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, at 11 am on Friday, June 1, with the Reverend Robert A. Manning, celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob’s name to St. Columbkille Church, PO Box 206, Stoneboro, PA 16153.
