Robert D. Gartner

Robert D. Gartner, 91, of Meadville, died Tuesday, October 24, 1995 at the Crawford County Care Center where he had been a resident since April 1987.

He was born in Woodcock Township, Crawford County, on August 8, 1904, a son of Cornelius and Margaret (Yochum) Gartner.  He married Mildred V. Waid August 12, 1925.  She preceded him in death August 9, 1991.

He received his education from the Meadville public schools.  He then apprenticed on the Erie Railroad as a machinist, where he subsequently worked for 44 years, retiring in 1967.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Pete (Elizabeth) VanHorne of Meadville, Mrs. Viola Ellis of Meadville and Mrs. Mabel McNamara of Conneautville and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Russell (Sharon) Kovac of Guys Mills, whom he and Mrs. Gartner raised.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Harold and Micheal Gartner.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
