Robert E. “Bob” Adams, 78, of Stoneboro, passed away at UPMC Hamot Medical Center on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Bob was born to Clifford and Nell Adams at Mercer Cottage Hospital in Mercer on April 14, 1942. Bob attended Mercer Schools. At 17 Bob earned his GED and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After he completed his service, Bob was employed by Reznor as a press operator. He retired after 40 years. After he retired Bob was employed as a driver for George Jr. Republic. Bob was an active member of the Mercer United Methodist Church where he served as a greeter. He was a lifetime member of Jackson Center Field and Stream Sportsman’s Club, where he was known for his baked “Bob Beans” and his goose with gravy. Always an outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Bob particularly loved cheering for the various sports teams on which his family participated. On June 10, 2000 Bob married Jo McClearn Adams, who he referred to as the love of his life. She survives him at the home they built together in Stoneboro, PA. Bob is survived by his two children from a previous marriage; Kimberly (Scott) Coon and family, Steven (Peggy) Adams and family, and his stepson Patrick (Sheila) McClearn of Grove City, PA. Additionally, Bob was the beloved “Pappy” to grandchildren Jordan McClearn, Payton McClearn, Rebecca McClearn, Kellen McClearn, Tegan McClearn, and great-granddaughter, Liliana. Bob also leaves behind his sister, Carol Harrison, of Florida, along with nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Adams, and two brothers-in-law. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of Stoneboro, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2020. V.E.T.S Honor Guard will present full honors at 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home with Rev. Dick Carlson officiating. All CDC guidelines will be adhered to.
