Robert K. Himes

Robert K. Himes, 76, of Wesbury United Methodist Community, former insurance agency owner, died Wednesday, September 4, 1991, at Meadville Medical Center following a one-year illness.

He was born in Ridgeway, Elk County, September 30, 1914, a son of Robert Craft and Mayme Painter Himes.  He married Marian Patton, September 27, 1941.  She survives.

He was a graduate of Westminister College and served in the US Army until he was discharged as a major after serving in the European Theater.  He was music supervisor for Elk County School System.  He owned and operated Himes Insurance Agency for 32 years.  A civic leader in Kane, he served as past president of its chamber of commerce and past president of Kiwanis Club of Kane.

He was a member of Bucktail chapter of Retired Officers Assn. and a member of the ROA Meadville.  He was chairman of the board of the Senior Citizen High Rise building program and served on the board of directors for the Kane Lutheran Home.  He was affiliated with Grace Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include an aunt, Oleta Painter of Erie and three cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie.
