Robert K. Keller, 79, of Harmonsburg died Monday, June 7, 2021, at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born August 3, 1941 in Pittsburgh, a son of Phillip and Cecelia Mauer Keller. He married Carol Wess August 11, 1962 in Pittsburgh and she survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Carrick High School and served in active duty in the US Submarine Service from 1959-1978, first as a Machinist Mate and retired as Chief of the Boat. He served on the submarines USS Cutlass, USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Sam Houston and USS Thomas Jefferson and was stationed in Norfolk, VA, Groton, CT, Honolulu, HI, Bainbridge, MD and Vallejo, CA. Following his naval service, he worked for 2 years at Lord Kinematics in Cambridge Springs and then for PennDot for 22 years.
He was a member of Linesville, VFW Post #7842, Submarine Veterans Inc., Classic Iron Street Machines and was an at-large member of the American Legion. He loved his cars, endurance car racing, and in his later years bird watching. Bob and Carol also enjoyed spending their winters in Micco, FL.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Carol, of 58 years, include: a son, Chris Keller of Linesville; a daughter, Amanda Doane (Matthew) of Pinckney, MI; two grandchildren, Sydney Keller and Cameron Keller and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecelia Kujawa and Thelma Teideken, and two brothers, Donald and Phillip Keller.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 11th from 3-6 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. Military honors will be provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.
