Robert K. Marsteller

October 25, 1935 — April 1, 2009

Robert K. Marsteller, 73, of 825 Dogwood Drive, Meadville, died peacefully at home surrounded in love by his family, Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

He was born in Butler October 25, 1935 a son of Robert D. and Ethel L. Neal Marsteller.  He married Cecelia J. Schuler August 23, 1958 and she survives.

He was vice president of Northwestern Roofing Company, Inc. where he worked for the past 44 years.  He was very proud of his achievements at work and the professional relationships he developed with area business people and his loyal and dedicated employees.  Before moving to Meadville in 1965, he worked for Koppers Inc. and L.J. Schuler and Sons, Inc., both in Youngstown, OH.

He was a 1953 graduate of Fredonia-Delaware High School, Fredonia, PA and a 1961 graduate of Youngstown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Bob was a veteran of the Korean War era serving with the US Army.  He attained the rank of Sergeant within 2 years, of which he was very proud.

He was of the Methodist faith and was also a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville Elks Lodge #219, Taylor Hose Company, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville and the Meadville Medical Center Board of Incorporators.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and working.  Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family and many close friends.  He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as papa and grandpa and they enjoyed laughter, jokes, and many hugs and kisses.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife of 50 years, Cecelia, include a daughter, Sherri A. Alexander and her husband Jeff of Meadville; four sons, Robert M. Marsteller and his wife Sharon Wagner Marsteller of Dauphin, PA, Larry D. Marsteller of Meadville, Bradley J. Marsteller and his wife Erin Gallagher Marsteller of Bethel Park and David N. Marsteller and his wife Kim Smolinski Marsteller of Meadville; two sisters, Sally Tatum and her husband Don of Wimberley, TX and Susan Manley and her husband Lance of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Neal Marsteller and his wife Patricia of Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Lynn Hosick.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with a Scripture Prayer Service at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Fr. Ray Gramata as Celebrant.

Interment with military honors will be in St. Agatha Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335, Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335, or Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
