Robert L. 'Andy' Anderhalt

Robert L. “Andy” Anderhalt, 89, of Baldwin Street, Meadville, died, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Meadville October 25, 1919 a son of Nelson and Sadie Burns Anderhalt.

He was a 1938 graduate of Meadville High School, and was a veteran of World War II in the US Army serving in the European Theater.  He retired in the early 1980’s from Avtex Inc. after working there for over 30 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.  He was a life member of the Meadville Club and Huidekoper VFW Post 2006.  He was also a member of West Mead #2 Vol. Fire Dept., the Avtex Fogies and the McDonald’s Breakfast Crew.  He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors, include a sister, Edna McCooey of Meadville; a niece Pam Thompson and her husband Gary of Meadville; a great niece, Kelly Thompson and a great nephew, Darren Thompson both of Meadville; a step-son, James Phelps and his wife Carol of Youngsville; a step daughter-in-law, Joyce Phelps of Saegertown; three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Lawrence Phelps, Jr. and a brother-in-law, Fred McCooey.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Terry Clark, Pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
