Robert M. Dwyer

Robert M. Dwyer, 80, of Meadville, formerly of Blooming Valley, died at City Hospital, Thursday, January 3, 1980, following a brief illness.

He was born in Canton, Bradford County, July 4, 1899, son of Dr. Charles S. and Edna Winta Teeter Dwyer.  He married Alice M. Budd, October 3, 1936, and she died June 21, 1972.

Dwyer was a veteran of World War I, serving in the US Marines as a military policeman.  He graduated in 1921 from Pennsylvania State University and worked for the state Agricultural Extension Service in Wayne County as milk tester.  He also was employed by the Philadelphia Dairy Council and the Missouri Department of Health in St. Louis.

Dwyer and his wife also owned and operated the West Shore House, a hotel at Beach Lake in Wayne County.  In 1945, they moved to Greenville where Dwyer began work for Sealtest Foods.  He was transferred to Meadville in 1949, retiring in 1965.  Since then, Dwyer was employed as a real estate salesman for Tom Deloe Realty Inc. up to his death.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the men's Bible class and board of trustees of the church.  Dwyer was a 50-year member of the Richard Vaux Masonic Lodge 384 of Philadelphia and a member of the Soloman Royal Arch Chapter 191 of Meadville, John Brown Heritage Assn. and the Crawford County Board of Realtors.

He is survived by a son, state Sen. R. Budd Dwyer of Meadville; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Mary Ruth) Kun of Banbury, Oxfordshire, England; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother and one sister.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
