Robert P. Francisco, 88, of Meadville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Crawford County Care Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 8, 1927 in Oil City, a son of Harry W. and Catherine Fagley Francisco. He married Shirley Morrison May 1, 1950 and she preceded him in death January 11, 2015.
Robert attended Immaculate Conception Elementary and High Schools in Clarion and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Barbering and worked as a barber in Meadville for forty years. He was the owner of Carman’s Barber Shop on Market Street for ten years and retired from there in 1992. He served as treasurer of the local Barber’s Union for three years and was a Boy Scout Leader for two years. He also was a barber at Bethesda Children’s Home for seventeen years and worked part-time as a furniture salesman for the Montgomery Ward Company for twenty-four years.
Robert was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Groger of Cochranton and Kara Francisco of Mayfield Heights, OH; three sons, Patrick Francisco of Meadville, Timothy Francisco and his wife Kari of Colorado Springs, CO, and Michael Francisco of Baton Rouge, LA; two grandsons, Terry Groger, Jr. and his wife Heather of Cochranton and Shaun Francisco of Colorado Springs, CO; three great-grandchildren, Jordin, Brooke, and Terry (Ty) Groger, III, all of Cochranton; two sisters, Eileen Oster of Hermitage and Naomi Summerville and her husband Wilson of Sligo; a sister-in-law, Patricia Francisco of Marble; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kimberly Groger; a grandson, Kendall Francisco; a brother, Eugene Francisco; a sister, Delores Lee; a son-in-law, Terry Groger, Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Stephen Oster.
Per Robert’s wishes, following cremation calling hours will be Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A private graveside service and interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
