Robert R. Philp, 79, of Meadville, long-time Meadville accountant, died Monday, January 21, 1963, at City Hospital after an illness of several months.
Mr. Philp was graduated from Allegheny College in 1905 and in 1955 was honored by the college as a 50 year graduate. For many years, he was affiliated with the Crawford District, Boy Scouts of America, and had been awarded the Silver Beaver, highest scouter award at the council level. For many years he was treasurer of Crawford County Historical Society and was active in Meadville Lions Club until becoming ill last spring.
Mr. Philp was born in Somerset County April 15, 1883, a son of James P. and Emma Perry Philp. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his widow, the former Mary Roberts; two daughters, Mrs. A. C. (Frances) Sproat of Mercer and Mrs. Roberta P. Hewitt of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Eleanor) Clark of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Samuel in Texas and Lester in Florida and four grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
