Robert Ray Karns

August 23, 1929 — June 10, 1999

Robert Ray Karns, 69, of Meadville, died Thursday, June 10, 1999 at Wesbury United Methodist Community following an extended illness.

He was born in Meadville, August 23, 1929, a son of Ray J. and Ellen Smith Karns.  He married Edna R. Hogue, February 6, 1954 and she survives.

He retired in 1994 from the Crawford County Vo-Tech as Supervisor of Maintenance after 17 years of service.  Previously, he had worked at Greenville Tube Corp for 27 years as a shipping clerk.  He attended Meadville High School and was a member of the Vernon Grange and French Creek Anitque Automobile Assn.  He was also a veteran of the Korean War with the US Army.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, John R. Karns (Cynthia) and James E. Karns, both of Meadville; three sisters, Mrs. William (June) Allen of Meadville, Mrs. Lee (Geraldine) Mix of Lake City and Mrs. Stephen (Nancy) Clark of Meadville; a brother, Lewis Karns (Roberta) of Meadville; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jacob, Heather and Stephanie Karns and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
